Spatial Chooses Lithium

Oct. 2, 2007
New support community part of Spatial’s ongoing customer-centric strategy emphasizing customer relationships and open communication

EMERYVILLE, Calif. – October 2, 2007 – Lithium Technologies today announced that Spatial Corp, a market-leading provider of 3D components, has launched a new online support community using Lithium’s Web-based, on-demand community building tools. The community, branded the Faces & Facets Online Community Forums, is a peer-to-peer network that provides Spatial’s users a place to share knowledge, discuss best practices and communicate with other developers and Spatial staff. In addition to discussion boards and forums, the community features integrated blogs that provide insiders’ perspectives on the 3D industry and technology. Spatial’s new community, Faces & Facets, located at http://forums.spatial.com, was launched shortly before its users conference, the 3D Insiders’ Summit, which is taking place today and tomorrow in Boulder, CO.

In its search for community building tools, Spatial required a robust and customizable solution, and was looking for a provider that would deliver ongoing training, as well as a high level of customer service. To that extent - Joe Cothrel, VP of Community Management at Lithium, will join-in for the launch of this new support community by presenting “Online Support Communities Best Practices (Making Spatial’s User Community Work for You)” on day one of the 3D Insider’s Summit. Along with onsite promotion at the user conference, Spatial is also aggressively promoting the community with free Community T-shirts and a raffle for an iPhone or laptop to new members who sign-up.

“Our Faces & Facets community is an important element in our strategy of bringing our customers even closer to our developers. We believe Faces and Facets will help us set a new standard for the 3D components business,” said Jerry Walters, vice president of marketing, sales, and services for Spatial. “We want to give our users the best, and Lithium stands out in the field. In addition to a great product, Lithium provides excellent value-added service and support. In the end, it was Lithium’s expertise, professionalism and customer care that won our business.”

Walters added, “The success of the forum will go beyond the number of hits and users. We anticipate the community will become a real value center for our customers.”

Lithium’s suite of community building tools makes it easy for Spatial’s customers to become active participants in an engaging community. The forum features a ranking system that helps Spatial to identify important and influential members of the community. The suite’s intuitive Web-based management system features a permission system that allows administrators to customize the privileges that individual members receive. The community also includes a subscription system that allows customers to track their questions via e-mail or by RSS, and subscribe to one or all of the posts of particular product experts. Lithium has also integrated comprehensive search tools; tagging, which helps optimize search results; and hundreds of personalization options.

“Spatial needed a central location to bring together its growing customer base where they could increase connections among users and Spatial employees,” said Lyle Fong, CEO and Co-Founder of Lithium Technologies. “We’re confident that Spatial will see the benefits of running a successful support community as Faces & Facets grows into a hub for product information for both old and new customers, and a place where users are actively helping Spatial and each other.”
